Committee to Select a Guest Resource Speaker

The Committee to Select a Guest Resource Speaker selects and assists with arrangements and hospitality for the plenary speaker for the annual session. 

Membership:  Members are the Clerks of Yearly Meeting and Continuing Committee, the Yearly Meeting Clerk designate, one representative of each Regional Meeting and one Senior Young Friend.  The committee is convened by the Yearly Meeting Clerk. 

Responsibilities of the Committee include:

1.   Seeking recommendations from Meetings and Worship Groups through their representatives, from individuals, and from Continuing Committee members.

2.  Corresponding with potential speakers as to their availability.  Speakers should be present for at least four days of the annual session to allow them to participate fully, with time for small group discussions and time with Junior Yearly Meeting and Young Friends.

3.  Issuing a formal invitation through the Yearly Meeting Clerk.

4.  Working with the Yearly Meeting Clerk on making necessary travel and hospitality arrangements for the person(s) selected, keeping appropriate Yearly Meeting officers informed. 

Financial Arrangements:  Incidental operating expenditures for clerical supplies, communications, etc., may be submitted to the Treasurer for reimbursement.  The Treasurer should be consulted before incurring unusual expenses.
