Treasurer

Appointment: The Treasurer is appointed for a three year term to coincide with the term of the Clerk of the Finance Committee and beginning at the rise of an annual session.  The appointment is renewable once (IMYM 96-1).  The Treasurer is a member of the Executive Committee. 

Responsibilities of the Treasurer include:

1.  Receiving and holding the funds of IMYM, recording all income and expenditures on a calendar‑year basis, using regular and special accounts that IMYM authorizes, and closing out such accounts at appropriate times.

2.  Making disbursements as authorized by IMYM, the Finance Committee, or the Registrar.

3.  Preparing a tentative IMYM annual budget for review by the Finance Committee and together with the Clerk of the Finance Committee presenting it to the Continuing Committee.

4.  Making recommendations to the Finance Committee for annual assessment levels to meet budgeted needs. 

5.  Preparing a report on the past and current year's operation before the recommended budget is presented at the yearly meeting.

6.  Presenting with the Clerk of the Finance Committee, the proposed budget at the yearly meeting. 

7.  Annually in January, advising the clerk of each monthly meeting of the financial contribution expected by IMYM.   Contributions should be received by the Treasurer by May 15.

8.  Annually, sending the above advice along with the census form provided by the IMYM Historian-Archivist.

9.  Arranging for orderly transfer of accounts to the next Treasurer.

10.  Arranging for an audit at the request of the Executive Committee.

11.  Serving one year on the Finance Committee after completion of the term as Treasurer. 

Financial Arrangements:  The Yearly Meeting pays the expenses of the Treasurer to meetings of the Executive and Continuing Committee, and to the annual session as needed.  (See the Guide page Who Pays IMYM Travel.)  Incidental operating expenditures for clerical supplies, communications, etc., are reimbursed.
