AHYM Fall Gathering 2024

The Art of Living in the Spirit

AHYM Fall Gathering – Emmanuel Pines – Prescott, Arizona

September 20, 21, and 22, 2024

Registration Deadline: September 10th, 2024

“All our senses are given to us to enjoy, and to praise God.”  Bella Bown

Join Friends from all around Arizona at Emanuel Pines Camp in Prescott, Friday evening through Sunday, September 20-22.  We will come together at this family-friendly retreat in the woods to share how our spiritual lives can be refreshed and enriched when we find time for ourselves and use it to experience art, literature, poetry, music, and other forms of human expression.  During Worship Sharing on Saturday, we’ll discuss how exploring the arts can enrich our spiritual lives.

This will be a weekend of fun and relaxation for all of us, whatever our age. Yoga, hikes in the woods, a campfire in the evening (weather permitting), songs, worship and sharing meals, a rope course, activities for the kids.... a time to build stronger relationships within our own meetings and with Friends around the state.

We certainly hope you'll be there. If the cost of the event might keep you from joining us, please know scholarships are available.
All details - see below!

Young Friends & Families

Emmanuel Pines is a wonderful place for families and for the nurture of the next generation of Young Friends.  Intergenerational activities will be part of the schedule.  Childcare may be available for infants and toddlers; programs are planned for Elementary-age children and any Junior/Senior Young Friends.  Events are scheduled for Saturday between breakfast and dinner (lunch with parents).  Intergenerational activities will be held after lunch.  Youth activities will be held Sunday after breakfast and the youth will join the adults near the end of Meeting for Worship.

The program will build community among young Friends through cooperation problem-solving, crafts and outdoor time.  Pre-schoolers with a parent are welcome to participate.  We invite volunteers to join us.  Please email Alisa Wolfe or Candace Wilkinson if you will be able to spend an hour or so with the Young Friends program.  Volunteers will have an opportunity to sign up on Friday and Saturday.  Share your Light with our young friends.

Guidelines for "Parents and Guardians" and a separate Parent Consent form are located HERE.  Be sure to print the consent form, complete it and provide the completed form on your check in at Emmanuel Pines.

INTERGENERATIONAL ACTIVITIES

We will have an intergenerational activity.  AND, back by popular demand, we will gather around the campfire again on Saturday night for songs, stories, and silly jokes.  Bring yours to share!

Camp Logistics

On Friday evening from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. we will meet upstairs in the Cedar Chapel for registration and fellowship.  Games and refreshments will be available from 7:00 to 9:00 o’clock.  Please bring table games, cards, and musical instruments to share.  Late arrivals will find room assignments posted upstairs on the windows of Cedar Chapel and may complete their registration process on Saturday morning. (A flashlight may be helpful to view your room assignment on the map and locate your room.)

While at the registration table, please sign up to help with the children’s program Saturday and Sunday.

Lodging

Friends will be lodged in Oak Lodge, Prescott Cabin, and Desert Cabin.  Each room in Oak Lodge sleeps four or five people in three single beds and one double bed.  Two of the single beds are upper bunks.  We will do our best to ensure as many families as possible are housed in their own rooms.  Otherwise, please anticipate room sharing.  For those needing closer access to the dining hall and Chapel, we request prompt registration as these accommodations are limited in number. Room sharing is likely.

Camping

Emmanuel Pines (EP) also allows camping at a reduced rate.  Bathroom facilities are available for campers. a short walk up the road.  Onsite space is limited, but there are 20 additional spaces available at the Prescott National Forest Yavapai Campground (7 miles from EP) for $18/a night on a first come, first served basis.

Mealtimes

Because we are not the only group at Emmanuel Pines Camp, meals are served for our group during a 15-minute period.  You may, of course, take longer to eat your meal, but in consideration of the camp staff and other groups at the camp, please arrive at the dining hall at the time indicated on the schedule.

The registration form is accessed after the schedule at the bottom of this page.  Valuable information including what to bring, how to get to EP and the schedule complete the webpage contents.
