IMYM Annual Gathering 2025

June 11-15th, 2025 | Fort Lewis College, Durango, CO | In-Person & Online

Dear Friends,

Let us ALL unite for the Intermountain Yearly Meeting Annual Gathering 2025. The theme this year is Beloved Community: Gathered in Courage and Care. In these times, it is vitally important that we come together. This year’s program has been intentionally designed to provide opportunities for belonging and connection for all of us. As you read on, please know that we are actively seeking to acknowledge differing abilities to travel, to take time, to gather, and to embrace differing hopes for how our time together will be nurtured by Spirit (from social justice to corporate worship, or time to play as a family and a community). Friends, we get to be together, as we are ~ in-person or online ~ as best nurtures our own spiritual needs, in our own complex context, both now and in June 2025. Please, come as you are able, with courage and care, to be held in the light of the Beloved Community, together.

COMMUNITY PLENARIES

Traditionally, we have invited a keynote speaker to join us. But this year, we are the keynote. Together, we’ll embrace a new, deeply communal approach through three Community Plenary Sessions held over two days.

First Plenary:
We will be blessed to share in a unique storytelling experience led by Children’s Yearly Meeting Coordinator Elizabeth Freyman, with offerings from our Young Friends in CYM. Intergenerational storytelling is sacred work—it’s not “just about kids,” it’s about community, about all of us. This session invites us to reflect on the stories that shape who we are, how we love, and how we belong to one another.

Second Plenary:
We’ll return to the powerful practice of Listening Each Other Into Wholeness, introduced by Jon Watts, our 2023 keynote speaker. With worshipful attention, we’ll explore Beloved Community through deep listening—not to respond, but to understand. This is more than a listening exercise; it’s a sacred embodiment of what happens when Spirit is given room to speak through us.

Third Plenary:
Inspired by the peacebuilding work of IMYM Friend Elise Boulding, this plenary invites us into the hopeful and Spirit-led practice of future visioning. We’ll imagine a world shaped by the testimonies of Quaker faith, grounded in continuing revelation, and anchored in possibility-thinking. Come prepared to dream boldly, listen deeply, and plant seeds of transformation—not just for ourselves, but for the generations to come.

In this new plenary format, we invite you to wonder:
What does Beloved Community mean to you, to us, and beyond? How might this experience touch you in precious ways? What wisdom will emerge in shared space of spiritual exploration?

LODGING

This year, we’re trying something new! Animas Suites will serve as our central housing option for Annual Gathering 2025 — part of an intentional experiment in building community and connection by staying together in shared suites.

  • Each Animas Suite includes four private bedrooms (each with an XL twin bed and lockable door), a shared bathroom, and a common living space with a TV, microwave, and mini-fridge.
Note: While the layout includes four separate rooms within each suite, Friends are welcome to find creative, comfortable ways to make the space work for their needs.

If you have nighttime medical needs, mobility support, need to room with a partner or caregiver, or just want help choosing the best fit for your housing needs, please email Gathering2025@IMYM.org or call (720) 288-0844.

Fully accessible suites are available — you’ll be able to indicate accessibility needs during registration.
Limited space in Cooper Hall (with 2 XL twin beds per room) is available for those in true need.

Community Camping

This year, IMYM has reserved a group campsite that can host up to 30 Friends and 12 vehicles, creating a simple, budget-friendly, and joyful space for shared meals, conversations around the fire, and quiet moments with the natural world. Join us under the stars in Junction Creek Campground, site G02, nestled in the beautiful San Juan National Forest just a short drive from Fort Lewis College.

Spots are limited, and carpooling is HIGHLY encouraged! You'll be able to reserve a car spot during registration and let us know how many are in your group. Questions? Email Camping@IMYM.org to connect with our camping coordinator.

For more information on the community campsite, or to reserve your own campsite in Junction Creek, visit: JUNCTION CREEK CAMPING

MEALS

This year, we’re offering flexible meal options to meet the diverse needs of our community—whether you’re staying on campus, camping, or spending time exploring Durango.

You can choose from:

  • Full Meal Package
Enjoy the ease of three meals a day (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) throughout the Gathering. This is the most convenient option for those staying on campus who want meals covered start to finish, and dollar for dollar, the most cost saving way to go if three meals per day is your style.
  • A-La-Carte Meals
Select only the meals you need, day by day. This is a great choice for campers, Friends who plan to bring some of their own food, or those who want to venture into town for a meal or two.

Please Note:

  • No hot plates or cooking appliances are allowed in dorm rooms, per Fort Lewis College policy.

  • However, Animas Suites include a microwave and mini-fridge for your convenience.

  • When choosing meals during registration, be sure to select meals for each person in your group. For example: if your family of 4 wants Friday lunch, choose “4” for Friday’s lunch option.

NEXT GENERATION

Beloved Community includes Friends of every age. At IMYM, our children, teens, and young adults are not just the future—they are the present. We offer age-specific programs that honor their voices, experiences, and gifts, while also creating opportunities for connection across generations. We can’t wait to welcome our young Friends, the Next Generation, to another year of growth, joy, and shared community.

CYM

Children’s Yearly Meeting, for young people entering Kindergarten through 5th grade, aims to create a safe and nourishing space where young people can build community and explore shared values. This summer’s program will explore themes of community and belonging through storytelling, art, and imaginative play. Children’s Yearly Meeting program coordinator, Elizabeth Freyman, is a long-time educator with experience working in Waldorf and Montessori schools and is a genuinely wonderful and inspiring person. She leads the  First Day School and youth programs at Albuquerque Monthly Meeting.

JYF

Junior Young Friends, for young people entering grade 6th through 9th is a community-building experience of sharing fun and friendship, exploring peace and justice, and practicing spirit-led business and worship sharing. We will have discussions, an out trip, games, skits, cantina, and a community art project. This year we welcome Elliotte Enochs as the JYF Coordinator. Elliotte, from Mountain View Friends Meeting and previously IMYM SYF, has stepped forward with excitement and joy. They are a community and social justice student, have served as a community organizer and lobbyist at FCNL, is a theater lover, and overall, someone who deeply cares about progress and people. Welcome Elliotte! And welcome Junior Young Friends!

SYF

Senior Young Friends is a program for High School sophomore through young adult aged people. The Senior young friends seek to foster a community of young people all across the four corners area! The program consists of 4 days where we and our friendly adult presence (3 adults who have generously agreed to keep an eye on us and ensure that everything is done safely) embark on fun adventures such as a trip to the beautiful Lake Nighthorse, wandering around the cozy little town of Durango CO for an afternoon, or just plain exploring the Fort Lewis Campus!

Pay as Led

Registration for IMYM Annual Gathering is again based on a "pay as led" model. Pay as led means that when you register, the cost to IMYM of your attendance will be calculated based on your choices. You will be invited to pay that amount or you can pay less or more, as you are led. If you are able, we invite you to contribute beyond your own costs to help sustain our beloved community and ensure that IMYM continues to thrive for years to come. Our monthly meetings also contribute to make this possible. Please know our goal is to include every single person who would like to attend - whether virtually for a few hours if that’s what your life circumstances allow, or in person for some of the time or the entire time. We understand that there are many costs that impact Annual Gathering affordability: income, time off from work, travel, food, housing, and other life circumstances. If cost is the only obstacle to your attendance, we want you to know that our community wants you to attend. We are all enriched by increasing attendance; registration for IMYM Annual Gathering is again based on a “Pay as Led” model.

Accessibility

IMYM “seeks to create an inclusive environment that encourages full participation of all in the life of our Yearly Meeting (Minute 20190614(b))”. Fort Lewis College complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and works with IMYM planners to make our gathering accessible. Your registration packet includes space to let us know your needs for any accommodations. Join us in Durango to enjoy the mountains, participate in our programs and activities, and seek the guidance of Spirit. Help us do better each year to make IMYM a truly inclusive, welcoming experience for all.

Volunteers

Each year IMYM relies on the gifts of volunteers to help create a meaningful and welcoming Annual Gathering - both in-person and online. There are many ways to contribute, big and small, and we encourage all who are able to step in and lend a helping hand. That said, we recognize that not everyone is in a position to volunteer, and we honor the different seasons of life we each find ourselves in. Whether you choose to volunteer or not, your presence at Annual Gathering is deeply valued, and we hope you will participate in whatever way feels right for you. If you are able to volunteer you will be given an opportunity to indicate your interest during registration.

Quakerism leans counter-cultural in a world driven by ego, noise, power struggles, and division. But our witness—grounded in simplicity, peace, integrity, community, equality, and stewardship—is exactly what the world needs right now. Whether you have attended Annual Gathering for years or are considering coming for the first time, you are an essential part of this beloved community. Join us as we step forward together, courageously with care, to create a space of belonging, joy, and spiritual deepening.
